This year’s Heart Rhythm Congress will take place from 29th to 31st October at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.
We have put together an exciting agenda featuring state-of-the-art
reviews of clinical practice and technologies, interactive teaching
sessions, two HRUK devices courses and an EP masterclass, as well as
A-A sessions. Presentations and discussions will be aimed at
physiologists, doctors, nurses and patient groups.
ArrhythmiA Awareness Week 2007 - biggest yet!
A big thank you to everyone who supported AAAW07
both nationally and internationally. An amazing 260 individual
awareness events took place countrywide, almost doubling last
year’s number, and 300 GP awareness packs were distributed by our
dedicated volunteers!
The success of the week was also demonstrated by the launch of the first World Heart Rhythm Day
at the House of Commons. See the website for more information on the
week’s events and do remember to send in your pictures if you
held an event! (read about events)
Arrhythmia Alliance to roll out in Europe!
To coincide with AAAW, Arrhythmia Alliance hosted its first European Conference for Patients and Physicians.
Delegates from ten countries joined the A-A team at their Warwickshire
headquarters to learn how to set up similar coalitions in their own
countries, before heading to Westminster to support the first World
Heart Rhythm Day. Arrhythmia Alliance UK is now working with these
delegates to ensure that access to arrhythmia services is improved
across the continent. www.arrhythmia-europe.eu
Chew Valley to Champion Community AED Placement
Arrhythmia Alliance volunteer and estate agent Clive Setter has kicked off Arrhythmia Alliance’s ‘Where’s the AED?’
campaign by purchasing ten AED (Automated External Defibrillator) units
for villages in the Chew Valley area. These essential pieces of life
saving equipment will soon be sited in publicly accessible locations
and local residents will be trained in how to use the device in the
event of sudden cardiac arrest. Please contact Laura for more information
A-A Forum Relaunched
The A-A Members' Forum has been improved and we have written a User Guide for those not familiar with using forums or message boards.
As
a result members are starting to post messages and communicate with
each other. This is a valuable opportunity for sufferers to exchange
information and support each other in an anonymous way. Medical members
may also like to contribute and respond to members' questions.
If you haven't yet signed up - do it today! Visit www.heartrhythmcharity.org.uk
click on "Forum" and register. Our webmaster, Dave, will send you a
username and password and you can then post a new message or respond to
someone else's.
Following the success of the
six regional meetings held earlier in the year in England, Arrhythmia
Alliance is holding a similar event in Wales to raise awareness of
Standard 5 of the updated NSF for CHD and Arrhythmias
(read more).
Following the NICE guidance
we are keen to try and find suitable patients who might be happy to
speak to journalists about their experiences with CRT. If you would
like to help, please email with your contact details.
